NEW COACH FOR HIGH SCHOOL MINERS TEAM
by brad powell posted 10/16/2009

PLEASE WELCOME Matt Harrison a 2008 VMI grad to the MINERS:

"I have been playing for 9 years and I absolutely love the game. I graduated high school from St. Mary's Ryken in Leonardtown, MD, who competes in one of the top conferences in the DC-Metro area, the WCAC. I finished my career, there, earning 2nd-team all conference honors at midfield and the team's 110% award. I went from there to play Division I lacrosse at the Virginia Military Institute (2004-2008) and we competed in the MAAC conference. After my freshman year I was converted to attack and I played that position for the rest of my tenure at VMI. Senior year, we made our first postseason debut as the #4 seed and we upset the #1 seed to make the finals. We ended up losing the championship game, but it was a building block that the team was able to use for the rising teams in the years to come. I also earned the team's AC-Memorial Award my senior year for the player who gives his all everytime he steps on the field. I have also worked several winter/summer camps since I have been playing and have always wanted an opportunity to share my knowledge/experience with today's rising stars."
